The ever popular Wheathampstead 10K race took place on Sunday May 22nd, starting in Sheepcote Lane at 11 am ending up on the Marford Playing Fields. This annual event has become a favourite amongst local runners and even sees competitors from much further afield coming to the village, encouraged by reports of a run with a local feel that takes in some beautiful countryside.
Year 11 of the Wheathampstead 10K Race was fully booked to its 800 runner capacity several weeks before race day yet again. The day was forecasted sunny with a chance of showers (thankfully they held off) and 657 runners completed the course. Feedback received so far has remarked on the beautiful scenic route with no roads, and it being a well-managed event.
Along with the 2K Fun Run, BBQ, cafe, face painting and fun fair there was an excellent turnout on Marford Fields all in aid of Beech Hyde Primary & Nursery School. Thank you to all our sponsors and those who came and supported us. See you on Sunday 20 May 2012!
